Who is this insurance designed for?
This insurance policy is designed for Full-Time Students including:

International Students studying in Canada (inbound students)

Canadian Students studying abroad (outbound students)
-
Canadian Students studying in Canada but outside their principle province of residence (national students)
Who can apply?
To be eligible for insurance under this
policy, you must be:
◊
a full-time student with proof of
admission or enrolment in a recognized
institute of learning; or
◊
a student completing post-doctoral
research in a recognized institute of
learning; or
◊
dependant (s) and/or the spouse of and
living with a student covered under this
insurance
If you stay in your destination between semesters, you can re-apply for coverage as long as you have proof of enrolment in the following semester.

For Canadian students studying outside province of residence.
A Canadian student must be covered under
a Canadian government health insurance
plan during the entire trip to be
eligible for benefits of this insurance.
You
may be temporarily outside of Canada or
your province of residence for a total
of 180 - 212 days (depending on the
province or territory) and still maintain your
provincial health care coverage as long
as your primary place of residence is
still in this province. If you live
abroad longer than 180-212 day, your
provincial health insurance plan may
terminate. |
Age. You must be under the age of 55.
Family coverage is available to you, your spouse and dependent child(ren) who are travelling with you, who are listed on your application, and who are under age 55 if you have applied and paid for family coverage.
Waiting period
applies in the following situations:
a) the 48-hour period following
"effective date" of insurance if
you purchase this insurance within 30
days after you begin school;
b) the 8-day period following your
"effective date" of insurance if you
purchase this insurance more than 30
days after you begin school.
A waiting periods applicable to all
claims, if you purchased insurance after
your arrival at уour destination.
The waiting period will be waived:
in the case of injury, or
if you purchased this policy
prior to the expiry date of an existing
policy already issued by Manulife
Financial to take effect on the day
following such expiry date.
To stay longer than planed.
You may be able to extend your coverage
as long as:
1. your period of coverage does not
extend beyond 365 days;
2. you remain eligible for insurance
under this plan;
3.the extension request is made prior to
the expiry date of your existing policy
issued by Manulife Financial; and
4. there has been no change between
single or family coverage.
NOTE: For policy extensions, no losses
or expenses or benefits will be paid for
any illness or injury which first
appeared, whether diagnosed or not, or
for which treatment may or may not have
been received prior to the effective
date of the extension of coverage under
this policy.
Trip Break - up to twenty-one (21) consecutive days. You have to call the Assistance Centre for approval: your coverage will be suspended, but will not terminate, while you are home. There will be no refund of premium for any number of days that you have return home.
What is covered outside Canada?
- Outbound Students:
If your home country is Canada and you have purchased this
coverage for outbound student, you are
covered for emergency and Wellness
Benefits while traveling outside Canada
for the period of coverage shown on your
confirmation.
- Inbound Students:
If you home country is not
Canada and you have purchased coverage
for inbound student, you are covered for
emergency medical benefits while you
travel outside Canada for periods of up
to fifteen {15) consecutive days,
provided your travel outside Canada does
not exceed 49% of your period of
coverage and as long as your travel
outside of Canada originates and
terminates in Canada and excludes your
home or home country.
WHAT
COVERAGE WILL YOU HAVE?
Emergency and Non-Emergency Medical Benefits*
This insurance provides up to a maximum aggregate of $1 million per policy for emergency medical and non-medical coverage for covered risks.
Eligibility.
You are not eligible for any coverage
under this policy if your trip is booked
and undertaken:
contrary to medical advice;
while you require kidney dialysis;
if you have used home oxygen at any
time during the twelve (12) months prior
to the date of application; and/or
you have been diagnosed with a
terminal illness with less than two (2)
years to live
Emergency Medical Benefits
Emergency means a sudden and unforeseen occurrence of an illness or injury that begins during the period of coverage and requires immediate medical attention.

A Pre-Existing Medical Condition exclusion may apply to a medical condition
and/or symptoms that existed prior to your
trip.
This policy will not pay any
expenses or benefits relating to:
a) A pre-existing condition that was not stable in the three {3} months
before your effective date.
b) Any pre-existing condition of a covered dependant that was not stable in
the three (3) months before the date the
dependant became covered under this policy.

Rates
For a Single Applicant : The premium rate of $1.88 is applicable to each day of coverage.
For National Students studying in another province or territory in Canada, the rate will be 50% less than the rate for a single applicant.
For Family Coverage The rate is two times the Single applicants rate.
NOTE:
All applicants must be under the age of 55. Coverage
must not exceed 365 days.
- Premium rate is in $CDN per person.
- Rates are subject to change without notice.
- Number of coverage days must include: the date of departure, the date of return, and the number of days in between.
