When Canadian residents travel between provinces or out of the country they remain covered by their provincial health care plan. Since only a fraction of medical and hospital expenses may be covered, Emergency Travel Medical Insurance can make up the difference.
"Emergency" means an unexpected, unforeseen sickness or bodily injury, which requires immediate medical treatment and which cannot be delayed until returning to country of origin.
This insurance also provides financial assistance with the cost of returning home by air ambulance, returning the patient and his or her traveling companions home early, or for relative to travel the location of the patient.
